Refund Policy
Effective . This version replaces any earlier one.
1. What this covers
Two things are sold on VSXRank: subscriptions to track a watchlist, and Featured placements beside a category board. This policy covers both, and it sits alongside the Terms of Service.
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for every purchase. When we approve a refund, Dodo issues it back to the original payment method — we cannot send it anywhere else.
2. Subscriptions: 7 days, on request
If a subscription payment is not worth what you paid, ask us within 7 days of that charge and we will refund it. This applies to a first payment and to a renewal alike, monthly or yearly. You do not have to argue a case — say the word and we process it.
The refund is the amount charged less any payment processing or transaction charge our payment provider does not return to us on a refund. That deduction is the provider’s, not a fee of ours, and it is usually a small percentage of the charge. Any tax Dodo collected is refunded in full where their system allows it.
A refunded period ends when the refund is issued: the subscription is cancelled and tracking stops. Your history is not deleted — we crawl every extension nightly regardless of who pays, so the charts are complete if you come back.
3. Cancelling after the window
Cancel at any time from the billing portal in the app. Cancellation stops the next renewal and leaves your access running to the end of the period you have already paid for.
After the 7-day window we do not prorate. A part-used month or year is not refunded in part, and unused days at the end of a cancelled period are not credited. This is the trade-off for there being no contract and no cancellation fee: you can leave at any moment, and the period you bought is the period you bought.
Two exceptions, both ours to own: if we end the service or a plan, we refund the unused part of any period already paid for; and if we billed you for something you did not buy, or billed twice, we refund it in full however long ago it happened.
4. Featured placements
A placement is a one-off purchase of a fixed run of days beside a board. It goes through a review by a person before it is shown, and the days you bought start at approval rather than at payment.
- Before it goes live, it is refundable. While an order is awaiting payment or waiting in the review queue, ask us and we will cancel and refund it, less the payment provider’s non-recoverable charge.
- If we turn it down, the refund is automatic. A placement we decline in review is refunded without you asking, on the same basis. We do not keep the money for copy we would not publish.
- Once it is live, it is not refundable. The slot was held, the card was shown and the inventory cannot be resold after the fact. Swapping a live placement to a different extension, board or date range is not possible either; buy the new run and let the old one finish.
- If we take a live placement down ourselves for a reason that is not a breach of the Featured rules by you, we refund the days it did not run, pro rata.
5. Research unlocks and allowances
Research unlocks, keyword allowances, competitor slots and daily refreshes are included in a plan rather than sold separately. They reset each month or each day, they have no cash value, and an unused allowance is not refundable on its own. If a plan’s payment is refunded under section 2, the allowances go with it.
6. How to ask
Email [email protected] from the address on the account. Include the date of the charge and, if you have it, the invoice or receipt number Dodo sent you; for a Featured placement, the extension and the board.
We answer within 3 working days. Subscription refunds inside the window are processed when we read the mail. Featured refunds go through the same review queue the placement itself did, so the decision and the money are recorded against the order. Once issued, a refund normally appears on a card in 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.
7. Chargebacks
Please ask us before asking your bank. A chargeback costs both sides a fee, takes weeks, and we may suspend the account while it is open. We have never refused a refund that was asked for inside the window, and an email is faster than a dispute.
8. Your statutory rights
Nothing here reduces a right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. Consumers in the EU and the UK have a 14-day right of withdrawal on a distance contract for digital services; by starting a subscription you ask us to begin supplying it immediately, which can reduce that right once the service has been supplied, and where it still applies it applies in full and on top of section 2. Tell us you are relying on it and we will handle it that way.
