What counts

Extensions are anything on your watchlist, yours or a competitor’s. Both registries count as one extension.

Keywords are one allowance shared across your watchlist. Each is tracked on both registries, daily, to position 1,000. Marketplace ranks are the median of three samples.

Competitors are other extensions pinned against one of yours for side by side charts and alerts. They do not count as watchlist extensions.

Refreshes fetch keyword ranks for one extension right now instead of waiting for the nightly run.

Questions

Do I need to prove I own the extension?

No. Anyone can track any extension on either registry. Mark it as Mine if you publish it (alerts default on) or Watching if you are researching it. There is no ownership check.

What happens to my history if I cancel?

Nothing. We crawl every extension every night regardless of who pays. If you come back a year later the chart is complete.

Is Open VSX included on every plan?

Yes. Every plan covers both the VS Code Marketplace and Open VSX, with full history from the day we first crawled.

Why is the Open VSX number so much larger?

Open VSX counts downloads, including every update, not unique installs. We never sum or compare that figure with Marketplace installs.

How does billing work?

Checkout is handled by Dodo Payments. Yearly billing is 10 months of the monthly price (two months free). Cancel any time from the billing portal. Your history is kept and the charts keep filling in.
